I have recently made a new goal for myself. My goal is to get through all of the Unreal Engine tutorials and documentation. I will be posting here with my progress each day. Once I am finished, I think I will either move on to the Unity tutorials or I will begin developing with the knowledge that I've gained. Either way, I want to continue to work on my game dev skills everyday. That is the real goal here.
Trying to break into the gaming industry has proven to be very difficult. Many of the positions that I apply for require skills and experience that I don't have. So I've decided to acquire them on my own. I have always believed that consistency is the key to mastery. So, I think if I work on this stuff everyday, then maybe I can eventually get to the place that I want to be.
I don't have a lot of time in my weekday. I have a full time job, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with an hour commute. I think that this will replace my video game play time. I also am trying to get to the gym more. So, from now on, my daily schedule will be to go straight to the gym after work instead of going home, then go home and do some Unreal tutorials for an hour, then go to bed. I won't force myself to work on this stuff during the weekends. That might be a bit too much for me to handle.
Wish me luck,
